Celebrating Unity and Inclusion: International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Yei River County
Today, on December 6th, 2023, we had the privilege of joining hundreds of individuals alongside the Disability Action group in Yei River County to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It was a day filled with solidarity, celebration, and advocacy for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
Under the theme: United in Action to rescue and achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities This year’s celebration centered around the theme “United in Action to rescue and achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.” It underscored the importance of collective efforts in advancing the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities and emphasized their integral role in achieving sustainable development.
A meaningful gathering The gathering brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds, including persons with disabilities, advocates, community leaders, and stakeholders. It served as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and to promote inclusivity and equality in all spheres of life.
Empowering through unity By coming together in solidarity, we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting and uplifting persons with disabilities. Through unity and collaboration, we strive to create a more inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the realization of the SDGs.
